Simple, classic fun, but more puzzler than RPG

I'll admit, at first glance, many will likely push Light's End aside, thinking the visuals are a direct proportion to the games' quality. However, as with most cases of such closed-mindedness, those people would be wrong.

While it is true that the graphical quality of the game isn't top-notch, the characters and story more than make up for it. With dozens of characters to meet and even take control of over the course of the game, this quick games' story is fleshed it in some very interesting ways.

As you start the game, you're introduced to a young girl residing in a small mining community, living in a country struck by political and occasionally violent turmoil. As events progress, a strange white light found at the communities' dig site appears before the young girl and enters her body. After this point, it quickly becomes apparent that you don't actually lay as the girl in question: you are actually the light the girl discovered, holding the ability to enter any of the major characters (and some minor) you encounter, allowing the story to be told from numerous, albeit short yet significant, points.

The gameplay and design is simple. You traverse top-down 2D planes of different locations in your quest, talking to the surrounding characters and interacting with the environment in order to continue on. As such, this is more of an RPG-lite, rather than a full-fledged RPG adventure. There's no interactive fighting to be had; the entire game is essentially one giant puzzle. That's not to say it doesn't allow the game to feel like an RPG, though a little more interactivity couldn't have hurt.

Overall, though, it's still a fun experience, and lasts longer than the typical XBLIG title (my run through the game clocked in at about 2 hours). For $1, or 80 Microsoft points, I see it as a must have - an occasionally overly simple one, but a must-have nonetheless.

This is a small fun game that is one of the few story driven Indie games available. It's a few hours long, but for the price its a decent amateur story with solid twists.

This is more of an adventure game than an RPG. You play as a spirit that can jump from controlling person to person. You use this to progress the story and solve puzzles.

Try it out, for the price you can't go wrong!

Music

The music alone is worth the price! Good story. Auto-saves make it easy to keep playing from where you left off.

Fun little TPG

Interesting to play a game from any character you want, but I did not find the story that interesting and it was a little too slow paced for me.

The graphics and music have a fun cartoon style to them that works well for the game.

Very clever. And I read on the website that it was all done by one guy plus an artist. Pretty impressive!
